Jefferson is a city in Jackson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 9,432 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Jackson County. Jefferson was founded in 1800. That same year, the seat of Jackson County was transferred to Jefferson from Clarkesboro. Jefferson was incorporated as a town in 1806 and as a city in 1896.
