Brent is a census-designated place (CDP) in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,804 at the 2010 census. It is a principal city of the Pensacola-Ferry Pass-Brent Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community is named after Francis Celestino Brent, who played an integral role in the development of Pensacola.
Brent is located at 30°28′14″N 87°14′57″W (30.470496, -87.249127), or 3 miles (5 km) northwest of Pensacola. The elevation is 112 feet (34 m) above sea level. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 10.5 square miles (27.3 km2), of which 10.4 square miles (26.9 km2) is land and 0.15 square miles (0.4 km2), or 1.58%, is water. The boundaries of the CDP include Fairfield Drive to the south, the city of Pensacola to the east, Interstate 10 (Ensley) to the north, and Bellview to the west.
As of the census of 2000, there were 22,257 people, 7,008 households, and 4,800 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,132.4 people per square mile (823.1/km²). There were 7,796 housing units at an average density of 746.9/sq mi (288.3/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 59.87% White, 34.25% African American, 0.74% Native American, 2.28% Asian, 0.27% Pacific Islander, 0.47% from other races, and 2.13% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.95% of the population.
